Passwords are the weak link: how passkeys change the game
The password has been the weakest part of security for decades. Its replacement is finally here, and it is genuinely better.
Passwords get phished, reused, and leaked. Passkeys, a newer sign-in method built into modern phones and computers, replace them with something that is both easier to use and dramatically harder for an attacker to steal.
Why passkeys are better
- Nothing to phish: there is no password to trick out of someone
- Faster sign-in using the fingerprint or face unlock people already use
- Resistant to the most common attacks that defeat passwords
Is your organization ready?
Adoption is growing fast, and major platforms, including the tools behind Microsoft 365, now support passkeys. You do not have to switch everything overnight, but it is worth starting a plan. In the meantime, MFA remains essential. We help clients adopt these protections at a sensible pace.
