Hurricane season is coming: a business continuity checklist for NC

North Carolina knows what a bad storm can do. The question is whether your business could keep running, and recover, after one.

Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, and the Triad is far from immune to the wind, flooding, and extended power outages that come with it. A little preparation now pays off when the forecast turns.

Before the season

  • Offsite backups: make sure copies of your data live somewhere a local flood or outage cannot reach, see backup & recovery
  • Continuity plan: decide in advance how staff would work if the office were unreachable
  • Cloud access: tools like Microsoft 365 let people work from anywhere with internet
  • Phones: a VoIP system can route calls to mobiles when the office is dark

The goal

You want a storm to be an inconvenience, not an existential event. If you are not confident you could recover, now, before June, is the time to fix that.
